Anyone who works in the web industry should be aware of the horrors Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 6 brings to the table. And now it seems Microsoft themselves have jumped on the bandwagon, at least their Australian branch, by producing this mini-site declaring that we should all upgrade to Internet Explorer 8. A fine message indeed, anyone using IE6 should upgrade ASAP.
However, they then go off track by comparing IE8 to other browsers such as Safari, Chrome and Firefox, declaring their browser to be far more secure than any of them. Whether it is or isn’t, who knows, but I notice they neglect to mention IE8’s lack of support for pretty much all useful CSS3 effects which would make our lives as developers a million times easier.
Internet Explorer 8 is certainly a massive improvement on IE6, but come on guys, seriously?
Even a carton of milk has better CSS3 support than IE8
